HLA-Envirosciences (HLA) has been granted a 2006 "Employer of Choice for Women" citation.

The citation is awarded by the Federal Government's Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) to organisations that have demonstrated they are leaders in policies that support women.

Out of 116 organisations awarded an EOWA citation, the Warabrook-based HLA is only one of two environmental/engineering firms to receive the award.

HLA's human resources manager, Simon Hamilton, said the company took seriously its commitment to promoting equal opportunity and diversity within the workforce.

Since the introduction of its equal opportunity program in 2003, HLA had introduced significant initiatives and created a culture that supported and advanced both women and men at the firm.

Forty-five per cent of staff at HLA were women.
